The Snark on The ARC

Hi folks,
we are off today and will be leaving the pontoon at
11am (or there abouts) this morning. I hope the day gets better, the start
was a bit dodgy with me pouring chicken soup instead of milk on my
cornflakes. I cannot recommend the results particularly highly. You
can expect at least one blog per day on the usual web site and you can also look
at the positions of the whole fleet on the ARC website.
I think we are good and ready we are just doing the
last minute put away and fill up jobs. We have managed to get over the
small hiccups of the week. 2 of our 3 sails have been patched or
substantially repaired I hope they will last the trip though they are lightly
used the normal wear points will need to be checked regularly. I have
tightened up the water maker, and checked the engine oil etc.
Chris our latest crew addition has finally noticed
that he is operating on CET rather than UTC (or GMT as I call it) so today he
turned up on time rather than an hour early. I think he thought we were
just useless at time keeping.
The start time is 1pm UK time so be thinking of us
then. We will be out of sight of land
before it gets dark but will hopefully be keeping in touch with everyone on the
network of VHF calls from tomorrow onward.
Not much to report for now but hope to send some
more interesting news tomorrow and maybe a photo or 2.
hope to see our yachting friends safely in St Lucia
in 15-18 days time and family and friends over Christmas.
Bye for now
Ben
