High folks,
We are sailing again!! Sorry we missed some
of you guys following I think that Triple D will be next in, we met Kinabalu at
lunch today so they are in, we have been trying you on the Radio but to no avail
so far. While the marina is very crowded I think you will be able to find
a rafted berth. For those following in our footsteps be sure and
check out the Cafe Sport Bar, good for food as well as drinking and they have
a separate dining room if you want a break from M&S tinned
curry!! There is also a really great resto at the south end
opposite the hotel serving hot rock food which was
outstanding. We ate really well in Horta and
notably everything is half the price here vs Bermuda. But now we are back
aboard and the first night curry is on the stove. Tea is back on the menu
and we have plenty of food for the trip this time and a spare bottle of
gas.
We are forecast great wind for the trip to
Gibraltar, however you would not know it right now there is very little breeze
here in the shadow of the islands so we are hoping it will pick up when we get
clear of the Volcanoes and get us fizzing along. If we carry on at this
pace we will be looking at rationing again!! The engine is on for now
until we get clear of Isle De Sao Jorge.
Chimera slipped off ahead of us this morning as we
were stuck fixing a last minute problem with the engine throttle cable. We
contrived to break it as we were coming into the fuel dock. Disaster
averted and quickly fixed this morning with the help of the very capable Daniel,
he got right to it. We had been admiring the problem the previous evening
and could not figure out how to get at the end of the cable. It
looked like you needed a 13 fingered dwarf with 5 foot long arms to
reach it.
Sadly our ships engineer Quentin is no longer with
us, hence the need for Daniel, he had to fly back to the UK due to a business
crisis, very sad for all of us but hopefully we may see him again in
Gibraltar? He is sorely missed and the long night shifts will be much more
lonely without him and he won't have a chance to win back some of the cars at
cards.
That is all for now happy sailing and fair
wind.
