After leaving Uoleva we had a nice little day sail of about 4 hours down to Limu island which I had decided should be the next place to visit. We had a windy few days anchored in the lee of little Limu but the barrier reefs that are just outside of the island and stretch for miles in either direction sheltered us from the worst of the waves.

It was a bit of a Robinson Crusoe experience at Limu! Not another boat or person in sight the whole time we were there. It is a small uninhabited island, low lying with coconut palms and other vegetation covering the middle, a sandy beach all the way round and surrounded by the usual clear turquoise waters and reefs. We spent much of our days there exploring the island or relaxing in the shade of a tree on the edge of the beach. Each day I would climb a palm tree to get some green coconuts down for us to drink and in the evening we would light a fire using some of the driftwood and old coconut husks. At night we did return to the comparative luxury of Sea Monkey though!

Today the winds had eased a little and we decided it was time to move on so had another nice little day sail down through the reefs and islands. Caught a Tuna on the way and Connolly did a great job of reeling in the fish and cutting the fillets of tuna steak from it this time while I kept Sea Monkey sailing and avoided the reefs!

We dropped anchor right by the tiny island of Pepea which is near the slightly larger island of O’ua. Still no other boats in sight but there is a village somewhere over on O’ua. Not sure we will visit that village though as it would be a challenging trip to get there over the reefs at high tide in the tiny Portabote dinghy! We will probably sail onwards in Sea Monkey in a day or two.
