Arrived in Ha'apai

Position: The overnight sail down to Ha’apai was near perfect. The winds were a nice 10-15 kts on a beam reach, the seas were surprisingly smooth still and there was a nice bright moon lighting up the mostly cloudless sky and reflecting off the water. Sea Monkey was flying along so the hardest thing was not to let her sail too fast so that we didn’t arrive among the reef filled waters of Ha’apai before the sun was up high enough to see where we were going. In the end the timing was ideal and we are now safely anchored in the turquoise waters off the town of Pangai on Lifuka Island. We have had a look around the sleepy little town (almost more of a village really). Today happens to be a public holiday that we had not heard about so will head back there tomorrow to check in with customs then. Phil |
