Birthday Celebrations in Vava'u

This has been a very busy week in Vava’u (with a social calendar to match).
We left Port Maurelle and had another beautiful day sail (with beverages in
hand) to some of the other islands to the east. We anchored a couple nights in
Ana Beach and another few nights in Lisa Beach. During the evenings we were all
kept awake with the sounds of all the fruit bats swarming around in the
trees.
We then made our way back to Port Maurelle to start the birthday
celebrations! That evening, August 20, another yacht, Lolo (Peter, Rossana and
their two kids Teddy & Poppy), were throwing there own birthday party for
Rossana that we were invited too. Other guests at the party included another
yacht, Wooshie (Matt, Gill and their son Jessie), and Star Ship (Anne Marie and
Chris). We enjoyed a fresh tuna dinner and played charades until 2am. – At
mid-night there was another cake for me (Connolly), who was turning 31 on August
21.
The next day the festivities continued: with another swim in the Mariners
Cave and then a bon fire on the beach, where grilled more tuna and had a (very
creatively) re-purposed birthday cake from the night before.
All the boats made our way back to the Port of Refuge in Neiafu, where we
watched the All Blacks vs the Wallabies rugby match (All Blacks won!).
We plan on resting for a few days then heading back out to explore the
other many islands of the Vava’u group.
Stay tunes for more adventures!
