Our last few days in Huahine were spent getting the Sea Monkey ready for the passage, gathering final provisions, and we even managed to do a long bike ride around the island. On the bike ride we stopped at a river with ‘sacred’ eels and even harvested a bunch papaya which we found along the way.

We are now 2-1/2 days into our 5 (or so) day passage from Huahine to Penrhyn. The first few days we had great breeze, but it has seemed to have lighten up. We managed to spot the Southern Cross in the sky, which was very cool. – Sunsets have been amazing out on the open ocean.

There have been a lot of sea birds (called boobies) flying around our boat. And yesterday you could say ‘the tit hit the fan’ – literally... One of the boobies flew right into our wind turbine and broke his wing, along with one of the blades on the turbine. - Phil has a second set, so we will replace them when we get to Penrhyn (so we can continue to get wind-generated power).

Today we caught a good size Mahi Mahi (which Tyler is currently grillin’ up for us for dinner!)

It has been a very exciting few days on passage! - We have our spinnaker up and are planning on doing more fishing tomorrow and continuing our passage to Penrhyn.

Stay tuned!
