Yes we are here at last. Hiva Oa, The Marquesas, French Polynesia, South Pacific......doesn't that sound exotic....eh?

We arrived at 9.00pm local time and by 9.10pm, after 2 beers, we had forgotten all about the painfully slow last 5/6 days or so.....It was just like the 'banging your head against the wall syndrome'....its great when it stops.
It took us 21 days from the Galapagos to cover the 3000 miles or so......not particularly quick and not particularly slow, especially bearing in mind one boat here in the anchorage, a Welsh boat called Blue Bear, that had taken 90 days, yes 90 days, from leaving Panama to get here and in the process, run completely out of food and diesel.

First impressions of this place are......its a bit like the French Caribbean islands......very lush, mountainous and exotic. But we will wait for our first trip ashore tomorrow before we give it a thumbs up or down. Promise some photos next time to break up my blurb and make it more interesting.
