Monday 23 May.   We left Santa Ponsa and had a part slow sail, part motor to Palma, where we had booked a berth in the Real Club Nautico Marina, which at 40 euros a night including water and electricity was better value. We are here for 2 nights, reacquainting ourselves with the city. On Sunday evening we wandered around the old streets, enjoying the balmy weather and treated ourselves to a meal in the old quarter.

In doing Monday's boat checks D found more water in the bilge than he would like or could account for (despite taking out the log for cleaning as this had been sticking). This resulted in the boat being turned upside down (not literally) to search for where the water might be coming from - but after several hours labour we were no wiser. Even after much tasting by David of the bilge water he was unsure whether it was diluted salt water or neat salt water, he thought the former. So it is now just a matter of monitoring the situation!

Our stopover here has enabled us to catch up with the laundry, stock up on provisions, cash and credit on the computer dongle. This was particularly important as our next few nights will be at anchor, including a visit to the Islas Cabreras - some beautiful protected islands where there are no facilities and where one has to obtain a permit to visit.

We really enjoyed roaming the Palma alleyways and revisiting some of the parts we discovered last year.

Palma Cathedral

One of the many hidden squares around the City

Ornate facade to church - typical of many

A private and stylish courtyard, used as a car park!

An old olive tree providing much needed shade

The weather is hot, sunny and calm, with temperatures in the shade in the high 20's. It is meant to be set this way until the end of the week - we will see!
