After more than 1700 nautical miles since Hythe we
have finally arrived at our long term berth in Sant Carles. Last night we
stopped at Puerto de las Fuentes, which was charming and very Spanish. It was
also quite cosy with little room to manoeuvre and only 8 inches below the keel
as we entered.
Our passage today took us past Peniscola, with its
Knights Templar castle, which looked very attractive and worthy of a return
visit next year.
Our berth at Sant Carles is still unprotected from
the adjacent rocks which, although not a problem today, needs to be sorted
- a matter already under discussion with the marina management. It is,
however, conveniently located and has terrific views of the town and mountains
behind.
Within an hour of being tied up we were both
swimming in the infinity swimming pool, which was a great way to finish
our passage.
