We celebrated the start of our second week here by
walking to the lighthouse at the Ponta da Piedade and back via the cliff top
paths (which increased the distance by 300% over a direct route).

It was fascinating to view the same cliffs and
grottos from the land as we had done by small boat a week ago. It was also much
hotter this time, with bright sunshine and temperatures in the 30s. A stop for a
cool beer and lunch in a shady cafe overlooking the bay were just reward for the
exertion.

![]() On visiting the Old Fort we discovered that the
municipality was putting on a free walking tour of places with cultural
interest, due to commence at 9.00 pm tomorrow. However, when we visited the
Municpal Museum to book ourselves in, we found that it had been cancelled
through lack of take-up. Nevertheless, we put our names down for the next one in
a fortnight's time.

When we returned from our perambulations we found
that a superb arrangement of yellow roses had been left in our cockpit with a
very touching note from Don and Charlie. They were great company on our Rally
cruise and we are so sorry that their return journey to Hythe by air was so
plagued with delays.
