Mojo 2

Finally, at around 4pm yesterday, the wind swung
far enough to the south for us to get sailing again. It still had some west in
it but we were able to sail with mainsail and genoa at around 40 degrees
off our port bow. As we approached evening it had moved to 70 degrees so we
hoisted the genneker and sailed deep into the night with 12 knots of wind and
making 6-7 knots boat speed. The wind died back to 7 knots at 4am but
picked up slowly this morning and has backed around to be a true south-easterly
and blowing at a steady 10 knots all day. Consequently we have made some good
distance over the 24 hour period despite having to motor for much of
yesterday.
Two milestones for us yesterday. We sailed past 180
degrees west which means Mojo 2 has now sailed more than half way around the
world. For the first time since leaving France the longitude will be
reducing and will be referenced as east and not west. We also passed
under 1500 nautical miles to Brisbane last night.
Rob made a fantastic meal for us last night. He
cooked the wahoo ingarli and breadcrumbs with a side dish of fried rice.
Beautiful white meat and probably the nicest fish I have eaten. Good thing
because we have another seven large meals of it to come!!
We enjoyed a beautiful night last night and today
is equally as good. The seas are calm so all of the wind speed is being put into
boat speed.
We are hoping for another good night with following
wind and seas tonight. With luck the wind will hold through until
morning.
At 3.45pm we are 1442 nautical miles from Brisbane
and still making over 4 knots.
The wind has just now moved more to
the east and picked up to 12 knots. Hope it keeps blowing!!
