Neil’s Dad and Mum, Brian and Jean Avery welcome us to their lovely home in Camps Bay.

They welcomed us like family, such a treat!

Sunday lunch at the Cape Peninsular University Hotel Campus on the sea front in Cape Town was delightful

So many apartments and hotels in this area now, with Table Mountain as their backdrop

These caissons along the sea wall were designed in South Africa and exported world wide as sea defences

Neil’s Mowbray Golf Club where he grew up in Pinelands, has the most beautiful painting of hole which has the best view of Table Mountain

Cape of Good Hope, or ‘Cabo de Boa Esperanza’ so named by King John of Portugal in 1488 after  Bartolomeu Dias rounded it, seeing it as a positive omen for a new route to India

We walkied up to the top lighthouse rather than take the fenicular rail cab

It’s a long way up here, but these flowers are so typical of Africa aren’t they?

Spectacular scenery down the East Coast of the Cape Peninsula from the lighthouse, and the restaurant below – great food!

Batsata Cove, just below Cape Point is so calm by comparison to the West Coast!

That’s Cape Point in the photo below, in the distance

The tug on the left looks like it’s towing that massive supertanker!
