Windjama Gorge
Is an ancient coral
Reef formed before Gondwana Land
When the Kimberleys crashed into Australia
The coral reef structure stands out along
the top ridge
Fresh water crocodile country
And nautilus fossils exposed in the reef
structure
Our next stop was Bell Gorge
Passing some lovely table lands en-route
Our first river crossing
OK Bell Gorge was just more rocks and
water!
But significant geologically
A Wild Dingo
An injured Frogmouth Owl sitting by the
filling station the next morning
Isn’t the camouflage fantastic, he
looks like a tree log!
We drove to the Australian Wildlife
Conservation Mornington Wilderness Camp which is an 880,000 hectare
wildlife reserve
To give an idea of its size we drove 100
kms. Across a small corner of it to get to the camp grounds.
The Boab trees are impressive on this
fertile soil
The Boab trees were amazing!
Boab Flower
Good spot for watching the rainbow bee
eater birds
At one of the many creeks
Our Safari tent accommodation with
Ensuite and fridge
Overlooking a creek, great for birdwatching
too
