Driving along the easier Moyenne Corniche next day took us to Monte Carlo, to visit the Oceanographic Museum, first opened in 1902 by the original Prince Albert, after his 4 cruises to various parts of the world in his own ship.

The view across Monaco is less attractive however, with so many high rise apartments built one next to the other going up the mountain side, but as the residents of these places only pay their taxes

The museum is totally up to date on climate change information and its own underground aquarium.  It was such a pleasure to see the live corals in many of the aquariums on show, including the huge main one, with its massive sharks and other predator fish, its not an easy balance to achieve. David managed to climb the grand stairway to the top of the towns and castle at Monte Carlo faster than I did, so he is still fit!  Busloads of tourists were already there, but they did not spoil the attraction of this magical place.

to the Prince of Monaco, it's not for him to complain!  We picked Aurelie up from work and took her back to her apartment in Nice in the rush hour - she normally takes the train.  It’s a commuting destination as well as a tourist one!  She loves living in Nice though, the weather is generally better and it's a lot of fun, her boyfriend is currently trying to find himself a job in the area too, as he has just passed his MBA, we shall see what happens.
