The first boat for two days, the MSC EUGENIA, a cargo ship bound for New York, passed us around half past three in the afternoon; the calm, sunny weather continued, developing into a balmy evening. This allowed us to have supper at the table outside, whilst watching the red sky glow following the sunset. At nine thirty, two reefs were put in the mainsail, and as the wind died to nothing the engine was switched on and the genoa furled. By eleven we were in a small depression, with the inevitable rain, which was pretty much set in for the night.

Dawn broke to a much clearer sky, with distant fluffy clouds lining the horizon all around us. As we were eating breakfast, a turtle drifted by, grazing on the seaweed. We kept an eye out for more, but were disappointed. The morning was spent pottering doing various jobs around the boat, and Liz tried yet again to get the network printer working from the laptops. A large fishing boat was on course to pass directly alongside us just before lunch - at well under a mile away, we were a bit worried about any nets or really long lines they may have had out. Thankfully they moved well out of our way by they time they reached their closest. Lunch was eaten on deck, but black clouds were gathering, giving us sullen skies; a very wet afternoon ensued.
