We arrived in Vilamoura on Sunday evening where Sam, Alissa’s boyfriend joined us.  We had a couple of days in Vilamoura.  Both Liz and I were here in 1985.  The place has changed considerably since then.  There has been a lot of development and certainly around the marina there is quite a sophisticated feel to the place.  Whereas northern Portugal is unspoiled and unsophisticated, the Algarve is apparently more prosperous and much more international.

 

Today we sailed to Tavira just about 40Nm along the coast – still in Portugal (just), and anchored in the river.
