After a supper of toad in the hole (experimental boat cooking, turning out
slightly skewed due to the rolling and slightly heavy due to being unable to
find Delia to check the gram weight conversion) and ice-cream plus Peruvian
dark chocolate the crew were more than ready for sleep. Finnrose had a
quiet night, under the watches of Mark, Ken M, and Ken W, sailing with a
full jib and mainsail through the night. A passing rain shower at 5a.m.
heralded a slight increase in the wind. This morning we are continuing to
sail in a north easterly direction to try to catch what light winds there
are available at the moment; the jib was furled and the spinnaker was set at
9a.m. to complement the full mainsail. The remaining crate of fruit and
vegetables outside were washed. dried, wrapped in foil and brought inside
for storage in the nets. A cargo ship, the Maersk Varna, heading for
Newark, New Jersey, crossed our bows at 11.25 a.m., giving our bit of
excitement for the day. We continue to make a gentle 4 knots, good for
keeping the fruit and vegetables from being bruised, but maybe a tad slow
for us...
