Hi all well as you can see we are getting closer. Now only 425 NM
from the WP off Horta after a very mixed 23 hours (we have adjusted our time
zone for the second time). Several periods of good breeze have made up or
some not so good so we have still managed to run about 140 NM.
Last night we had a period in the early hours where it was reefs in, out,
in, out etc as several heavy rain squall's came through, we also had several
“good” shifts of wind with them with the end result being us pushed north
again. However we have made up for this a little during the day.
However doing a whole Atlantic crossing close hauled is starting to become a
little bit of a pain. Just had to reef again as there are some very large
black clouds not far in front so maybe another squall or two to come.
We have seen another yacht. we could see their light in the early hours to
the NE and passed them during the morning. We have also had a radio (VHF)
conversation with a German yacht some 15 NM to our SW that we heard talking to a
French yacht (could not hear their half of conversation) even further SW.
Flipper and his mates have been calling by every hour or two to day, crew
still hope to see a whale as we get into the Azores.
The Ceilidh “Book Club” turned in to the film club last night just after we
sent yesterdays blog. Conditions were so good we had Sam’s laptop up on
deck watching “Chronicles”
Sam J also cleaned out his cabin today, we think it was to get rid of the
crumbs from a raid on the “HobNobs”!!
As for food we had a “Beige” day again with Bacon and Beans for breakfast,
Ravioli, fresh bread and fruit for lunch with Pork, potato wedges, veg and fried
onion/peppers for dinner.
No sun sights due to cloud and being Mum for the
day. |
