Yesterday had several notable milestones as we continued our journey
Westwards to Gibraltar.
The 24hr days run to 17:00 yesterday was 189NM which is the highest daily
total so far for Ceilidh and definitely a target to beat in the ARC.
It was also the first time Zoe and Jenney had kept a 3hour night watch
together without any senior crew present so well done to them.
Unfortunately it was also the dullest and wettest day of our trip so far
with a low pressure system causing the full set of oilies to be donned
again!
Overnight the NE wind died so we had the engine on before a F2 Westerly
breeze allowed us ton sail close hauled.
We are currently doing short tacks into the Spanish shore to the West of
Almeria, this is giving us best speed as there is a short East going swell that
quickly slows our boatspeed.
The breeze has increased to F4/5 and the best tack is giving us around 230M
towards Gib and it is a fine bright and fresh day.
Some sad news from home this week with the untimely passing of Oban Lorne
rugby club stalwart Gus Campbell who will be sadly missed, condolences go out to
his family at this difficult time.
Also on a day of high sporting activity I wish Scotland the best of luck in
their international rugby match against the All Blacks.
We now have couch potato teams in navigation, sport and Irish Jokes
giving us daily much needed advice/reports and support.
It is always fun to read your emails so keep them coming,
