(We hope!)

There is nothing that epitomises sailing down the trade winds better than lying on the deck, head over the bow, watching dolphins play in the bow wave. Andrew and I were lucky enough to be able to do it this morning as we sailed down the coast of Santiago. The sea was so blue, the bow wave so sparkling in the sunlight that we wished it could have gone on forever. It might have gone on for a little longer had we a faster boat with a more enticing bow wave but we are content with what we get.

Michael has assumed the role of farmer. He plants his seeds in a plastic grow box and harvests them every few days. I tasted some this morning that had the flavour of pernod. I don't recall a packet of anis seeds on board. Perhaps my taste buds need a boost? No doubt a pork pie would set them to rights!

The wind this morning is quite fickle. We're in the lee of the island still and will be for a few hours more. We've had NE 5, S 1, W1/2 and no wind at all at various times since we left (at about 08:00 this morning). So we motor, sail and motor sail depending...

The main question - are we nearly there yet, dad?

Three weeks!

Or so.

Happy sailing,
