Above my head as I write this is a hammock full of
vegetables.
Day by day it gets lower and lower as the bungy
cord stretches. One day, when it reaches the cabin table I might get around to
substituting rope for bungy cord and so lifting it back up to its rightful
place. In the meantime anyone approaching the table risks serious head injury-
there are cabbages at either end (for balance) and having been coshed several
times by them I now consider them serious contenders for the title of WMD.
Indeed I would go so far as to suggest that cabbages were the prototype
cannonballs. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Nelson used them at the Battle of
Trafalgar. In those days secrets weren't kept on laptops waiting to be lost by a
junior civil servant so the Admiralty would have had no difficulty in keeping
the secret weapon secret, would it?
We had a minor flap yesterday. The barometer
dropped from 1020 to 1016 over the course of three hours. We secured everything
we could in anticipation of bad weather but all was fine. I suspect a sticky
barometer.
There is dust in the air from the Sahara. The sun
sunk into a browny gloom last night - Andrew got a great picture of it.
Unfortunately I have not yet discovered how to include pics wth these daily
musings so bring the pic to the atention oif the wide world will have to
wait.
Andrew has renamed the boat: Dunkin' Boatnuts.
Something to do with a fast food outlet. I wonder whether they do double
dunkings?
Good news: Our dunkings subsided enough to allow me
to open up the aft locker and see what was up with the autopilot. Nothing more
than a loose pin so we can now use it once more if the wind drops.
Neptune presented us with three flying fish this
morning. I think it was in thanks for us presenting him with part of our dinner
every day. He obviously likes vegetable peelings.
Which it is doing. Our speed has dropped from a
five and bit knots to four and a bit knots. We are going to consider tactics
whilst we have lunch.
Happy saling,
Love,
P, M & A.
(I thank Neptune every day for not naming
Andrew Tommy!!)
