our last day ...

Can this really be our last day at sea? Looking out at the sea nothing has changed. It's still a lovely radiant blue. The small white fluffy trade wind clouds are still blowing along and providing us with the occasional fresh water wash. Flying fish are still flailing, the birds (I looked them up - they're Cory's Shearwaters) are still fishing for them and the dolphins are still coming. There is peace, quiet and tranquility out here.

Why on earth would we want to give all this up to enter a large city? No doubt heavily polluted, certainly with a reputation for muggers, druggies and worse, and uncomfortably hot without the constant sea breeze. None of us are really looking forward to it but at the same time it does mark the end of our voyage; a place we can take stock of the trip and start thinking of the next one.

Yes, we're sad, but it is the beginning of our return to our family and friends who couldn't share in our adventure. We've even realised that it will soon be Christmas. And that seems the strangest thing of all since we have been cocooned from the merriment and commercialism of it all this year. And it's even been snowing at home!

Happy sailing!!
