Sunday 23 August - almost a day of rest so not a
lot to tell you about. We left Lisbon on a calm morning and wafted gently 33
miles south to the truly beautiful anchorage of Arrabida, it took us
5 hours to cover the distance as the Trade Winds were also having a day of rest.
Anchor dropped and the hardier members of the crew jumped off the boat, water
temperature 18.5 degrees so your author wasn't tempted in and I eagerly avoided
hugs and embraces from my family as the climbed back aboard; I doubted their
motives.
Needless to say the winds are whistling
now that we are settled in for the night but no worries, the skipper is
keeping watch with the wine and his book up deck - never one to derelict his
duties! Off a bit further south tomorrow, just a few sailing days left and our
thoughts are turning to home, our big adventures behind us for now. We will
start the day a little wiser, the wind has a pattern so we should have a sleep
in, set off after lunch and scoot along on the Trades as the suns sets, the
perfect Portuguese sailing day. |
