Greetings from the good ship Tilly Mint from
crewmates Claire and Steve. We're now well on our way across the Atlantic,
leaving the Cape Verde Islands a long way south east...At one point today
we were heading for Cuba but the winds relented and now we're back on
course for St Lucia, marvellous. The watches have been pretty eventful through
the night, three hours in sole charge of this gorgeous super yacht is a sight to
behold. Lots of downwind sailing and not a single vessel in sight, just 360
degrees of blue water Atlantic swell to focus the mind. Oh and the odd flying
fish to wrestle with when they land next to your ear and give you a
fright! Today on my dawn watch I had a brand new bird species to add to my
list... a Red-Billed Tropic Bird that only frequents this sea area off the
Saharan coastline. Long white streamers and a blood red bill, it looked like a
white fairy tern, always a good omen when we see something special at
sea. The Dorado, caught by Lawrence, was
served for lunch today, scrumptious. The seas are building now so lots of hand
steering required to keep us safely on track. We all feel the days are going
quickly with loads to pack into our 12 hrs of daylight each day. Thinking
of you all at home and hope we can catch up with you in a week or so's time
when we'll be quaffing rum punches in the West Indies!! hee hee hee
