Blog 25th May
Bernie’s Blog – Day 5 – 25 May 2011 Colin saw in a lovely clear sunny dawn; Bernie took over the watch at 0800 and then it all turned ‘to rats’. Cloudy skies with occasional rain are the order of this day and the wind is changing but not in our favour. We have made excellent progress the last two days and we are now 470 miles down our track. We ‘take the good with bad’; and at least the sea is calm still. Last evening’s supper cooked by Rod and assisted by Colin, was a fresh beef casserole with boiled potatoes, fresh beans and carrots. As I write this Peter (P2) is preparing an egg salad with ‘trimmings’. We have regular discussion periods onboard of varied interest and intensity. This morning we covered US politics, investment and trading investment and the 2012 Olympics. No subject as far as I can tell is out of bounds … and if it is I’ll not be reporting it! Rod has brought with him a book entitled “Body Control – The Pilates Way” and so we all now hope to have a version of ‘Pippa’s Bum‘ when we return. Ah, the thought; the sort of thing that keeps a sailor smiling. A new language is being developed onboard reference to which we shall occasionally refer. eg an “uppey downey thing” – halyard. A “cutty uppy thingy” is a pair of scissors. Watch this blog for more ambiguous unintelligible language. |
