Position Update N30:13.65 W35:22.99

PASSEPARTOUT
Christopher & Nirit Slaney
Tue 8 May 2012 22:35
A difficult twenty four hours but not without a
few laughs.
I'm trying to write this as the yacht pitches and rolls
in a five meter swell, so I'll be short and to the point.
A gale which has dominated life on the Passepartout
since Monday evening is abating. We have been running with only a storm jib
in winds of over 35 Knots. The storm jib is an Easy Swissa original never before
used in anger, it fits over a furled headsail and it works very well. A few
days ago I had Yael and Nirit practice rigging it in calm weather; an
exercise which paid off in aces when we had to do it for real.
Nobody has been able to sleep and lunch was
sandwiches with a cup of soup. As the weather turned to rain we tried
to play a game of Rummikub but the pieces flew all over the saloon. Later we had
more luck with cards.
We had a beautiful sunset with rainbows and hopefully
things will calm down sufficiently over night to get us sailing towards Horta
again.
