Another great day out on the ocean, during the last
twenty four hours we covered 150 NM. The weather has been kind to us with an
average of twenty knots from the west and southwest, a comfortable downwind
angle as we are still committed to hugging latitude 30 north. This morning we
spoke to weather guru Chris Parker, he wants us to stay within one hundred
nautical miles either side of 30 north until Thursday morning, only then will we
gradually come around onto a northeasterly heading for the Azores. Laying a
course for the Azores any earlier than that would get us hammered
by five meter waves on the nose.
The air was clear all day and the horizon as sharp
as a knife. I felt sure we would see something, perhaps a whale, another
yacht or even an interesting piece of debris. But no, we're all alone with not
even an airplane in sight.
The galley is in moda Italiana. Nirit produced a
pizza for lunch and Shmulik has a pasta dish in the works for the
evening meal. A nice bottle of Chianti would go down well but no such
luck.
