We went along to the St Lucia Yacht Club on Sunday
afternoon expecting to enjoy a couple of cold beers on the verandah and applaud
those collecting line honors for the Diamond Dash Race. Imagine our surprise to
see 'Sweet Surrender' at the top of the results board. I knew we had sailed well
but thought there were a couple of other entrants who would have beaten us on
corrected time. Wrong. We won it fair and square! Skipper Danielle
collected a gift voucher for jewelry from sponsors 'Diamonds International'
and the rest of us collected a collection of goodies. The yacht's name
will be added to the trophy which then goes back on display at the
club.
I'd like to thank Danielle and Phil for inviting us
along, the St Lucia Yacht Club for a well run event and all the other crews
who made it such a fun day. The yacht club members are a fine bunch of
people, the bar catches the breeze from all directions and the food looks very
appetizing. We've heard there's a three day round-the-island race next month
and we are very tempted to stick around.
