Wow. 2 weeks already , doesn't feel like. With all the stop overs and
waiting for weather it feels like we have been out here for a long time. At
first light the wind was still up a bit. The previous night had some horrific
conditions. When the skipper says “ hold on tight” , you just know. When
it started getting light , i wished that it was still dark. I really didn't want
to see the size of the waves. Hats off to this little yacht , she can really
handle those big waves and winds. At around lunch time , things had started
easing off , Who ever was not on shift could get some much deserved sleep
as well. Even though there is always one person on duty when the weather is vile
everyone seems to be on alert status , Even in your cabin , you still sleeping
with one eye open. With every wave crashing near the boat or every lurch , your
up and ready for action.By evening the wind had dropped off completely and on
came the engines. I showed Conner his first Flying Fish today. He was pretty
stoked. Its just one of those things that deep water sailors take for granted ,
not everyone has seen a flying fish. We are expecting some big winds tomorrow ,
so with this calm weather tonight everyone is getting some good rest.
Just out of interest sake – I calculated that we were 168 Miles away from
Durban at Lunch time today.
