35 knots and counting

As I write this note wind is
blowing at 35 knots (force 7), Monday night around midnight off the coast of Colombia.
Just got off the radio with one of the ARC participants who had up to 38 Kts at
his speeedo.Boat all reefed, and still going 7 knots with a 20% furled geenaker.
The waves around are quite impressive at night. A good feeling to think that
all are sleeping (or at least in bed) while one of us is on the bridge. Noeluna
is a great vessel, that bravely goes through this wind without complaining. ETA in Sanblas Wednesday morning.
With the use of the parasailor, we were really FAST this afternoon. If winds
blows well tomorrow, we might need to slow down the speed, so we don’t get
there in the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, which would be a hassle as the
entrance in Sanblas is a tricky thing at night. If that happens, we would go in
circle in front of the pass, waiting for dawn to make our way thru it. For
those of you accustomed to circle in the air before landing to Heathrow or JFK,
I am sure you understand the feeling… Henry for Noeluna crew |
