Noeluna getting closer, 8th Dec, 2200 UTC
Dear All, Soon and if all continues to go well, we will join our mate Christopher
Colombus and a few more who made this Atlantic crossing in the last 6
centuries, just plain sailing. La Santa Maria, la Nina, la Pinta and soon
Noeluna. Like Chris, we have no clue what the indigenous look like and we also
brought some cheap jewellery and some Twix (new dark flavor, hummmm) to smooth
first contacts. If they happen to still be cannibals, we will give them
Philippe as it should keep them happy for a while. In case they are a little
further advanced on Darwin evolution scale, we will be looking for a Cunnins
Onnan generator specialist and Matthieu will eat him. The first one to see land will be awarded an extra rum
ration and the most coveted right to take a shower on a day other than a Sunday. We are still due to arrive sometimes Friday during the day
and we are now getting desperate to get a swim, which has so far been quite
impossible given the swell and speed of the boat (please do not make easy
comments on this last point). Water temperature is above 27.5 degrees and we
can’t wait for a plunge. Funny enough, we asked ourselves whether we had
any particular cravings for when we touch land and the answer was not really: we
don’t seem to be missing anything apart from our other halves, our
children and supportive members of our families (not the ironic brothers and
sisters of some). Markets may collapse, Avene’s source may dry, the Baie
de Somme might be invaded by Germans in short, we prefer to save our souls and
sail away like our other mate, Bernard Moitessier. As night falls tonight with a magnificent sunset, we are
swapping the spi for the gennak+jib, getting ready for cocktail time, dinner
and night watches, a well functioning routine at this stage. Happy days and tropical salutation to you all Noeluna |
