Dear All, Today, we had 2 things to celebrate: our first week at sea
and (HURRAY!) we managed to catch a fish: not any fish, we got a 4kg daurade
coryphene or mai mai, probably one of the best fishes to eat. This is a
beautiful yellow fish with other quite amazing colours. With the end of our
first week at sea, we did over 900 miles, ie just over a third of the way. With
our catch, we had our first sashimi of the trip as well as somptuous filets
simply cooked in a pan with onions, tomatoes, oil and lemon (after the fish was
lovingly prepared by Matthieu): a true delicassy and also quite a moment of
glory for the happy crew, now even closer to full autonomy, with zero CO2
emissions and “almost guaranteed” food self sufficiency. Earlier in
the day, we had another catch who did not leave any chance to our fishing
equipment and broke our line in less than 20 seconds: we suspect it was at
least a whale. Unfortunately, our IT department has confirmed that pictures
cannot be sent from the boat, so that you will have to wait for our arrival to
see the pictures behind the story. The quote of the day was provided by Come who woke up
suddenly, looked around the boat and declared that he knew that place as we had
already been through the same location before! Also, we saw 2 passing boats on the horizon today, the first
signs of life in the last three days. Last but not least, since today was Sunday, we took a shower
then swiped the boat clean. Traditions matter: we had a full deck parade,
double rations of rum, and pancakes for breakfast. News from the generator: still zero CO2
emissions
Have a very good start of the week and happy dreams for
tonight The well fed Noeluna crew |
