Night watch 25 Nov 0930 UTC

Dear All, It was Matthieu who went for an early swim today to look at
our starboard propeller. As we thought, the fishing line is wrapped up around
it. Matthieu managed to get a close look but there was nothing he could do to
untangle it as the boat was still making close to 2 knots despite being
“a la cape”. Moreover, with a 2 to 3 m swell, going below the hull
is a very dangerous hobby indeed and we will wait to get calm seas to dive
again. In any case, the engine might work perfectly well despite the line, so
no point taking risks for nothing. We are currently going 6 knots with a 15 knots wind, nothing
spectacular and we will try new sails set up tomorrow am. Our well thought
strategy reloaded is to go long South South West for now, roughly heading for
20 North 30 West. For those who wonder what we are doing during the day to
make use of our time, it is worth highlighting that we have no spare time.
Difficult to describe exactly what we do all day but none of us managed
to read more than 2 to 4 pages of a book so far. Whether it is navigation,
trimming sails, cooking, washing or working on trying to fix the generator (the
supposedly most reliable item on board), we find no decent time for ourselves
yet, not that we miss it either since the days go by so quickly. We got our second sighting of dolphins today with about 30
of them playing around the boat today for about 25 minutes. We also saw a
few squadrons of flying fishes but none of them got close enough to fall on the
boat. This is a shame as our fishing attempts have not been quite conclusive so
far. Please stay tuned as we still have at least a couple of weeks ahead of us
to make progress on that front. We are alone on the sea and have seen no other boat today.
This is a very beautiful feeling: difficult to feel more free and away
from everything. Weather is not tricky and no sight of squalls yet. Still no UFO to report today but we know they are around and
we will keep you posted The wine cellar is still untouched but we know where the
starboard watch has hidden the key and we are on the case. Bye for now from the Noeluna crew |
