From Guernsey - hen weekend- and back to Dover

June 2009
Guernsey Castle Had to wait for enough water to clear the sill and we’re off to Sark! Sark
looks pretty but steep so we didn't attempt it. Everywhere we go we get lovely
admiring comments about the boat! Mike sat
around in the rain while I went back to Kent for a pink hen
weekend!
After
lovely weekend, I flew back from Manston to St Helier where it poured with rain
all day again! Bloke
rafted up badly alongside, so, after considerable re- arranging of lines Mike
told him to either sort it out or f*** off! Bloke asked for Mike’s name – “Mike”,
Surname? “Goldsmith”, Qualifications? “Master Mariner” – End of
interrogation! Lots of admiring comments again when we tie
up. French
guy, from a boat we overtook on the way here, also came over to say how pretty.
Mike has spent the rest of today fixing the final diverter valve in the
(hopefully) last battle of the poo pump! Kate
jumped ship and flew back to Manston from Jersey again. Too stressed to stay
with no wind and much to do in Kent!
Mike sailed to anchor at Sark and then, single-handed to Studland Bay,
Osborne Bay, Cowes, and Brighton. And then,... guess where?... Dover! The
final sail in June 2009 was a day trip to Boulogne for Mike and Pete – moules
frites and home to Dover! |
