August 2008

Friday 1st Dover to Ramsgate

I’m off to the hairdresser’s so we volunteered Jude to take her to Ramsgate with Mike while I swan about!

Oh no, Dover again!

Jude writes: Fantastic! Beautiful evening sail from Dover to Ramsgate – lots of wind, sun and good sailing. Thank you for letting me do one of your first sails on your lovely new boat, looking forward to lots more adventures somewhere in the world!

Oh yes – they need to dredge Ramsgate harbour – had to wait an hour to get in at low tide and we only draw 2metres!!

Saturday 2nd Ramsgate

On board with the “Ramsgate gang” for champagne aperos!

Jo writes: Enjoying champagne on board – marvellous! What a brilliant boat. Enjoy many wonderful journeys and brilliant times together…”gone sailing!” Jo & Mike

Then 3 weeks spent “titting about” and ready to take her to France

for Bank Holiday weekend!

Mike set the alarm for 5am to get out to the outer harbour. Bow thruster is inches from my bed! Sat around waiting for the sky to stop falling on us and eventually left at 10.20. First hour wasn’t too bad! Few more hours towards France trying not to notice how near Dover looked! In the end the wind left, the tide turned and so did we. Ignore Dover, which starts beckoning. Back to Ramsgate in time for aperos with Garry and Jude. Better luck tomorrow, maybe, but….. She’s still a lovely boat! Needless to say, that turned out to be the last trip in August.
