May 2009

Pissed off with leaking loo in Brighton but left for Cowes anyway. Mike’s been trying to fix the loo for days but, we think, finally succeeded! Potted up some herbs with compost kindly donated by Pam & Brian when we met up with them in Cowes

Met up with the Dodds in Poole

Arrived in Poole just as Kate rang to say they had moored up- less than 200 metres from where we had parked on the Quay! My little legs just about coped clambering down the ladder and across the other boats in the “raft”. Oh, that was fun (not)!

We spent several confused and silly minutes looking for the last bottle of white wine. It was eventually tracked down to the “coffin” cupboard. Kate had forgotten where it was- the cupboard as well as the wine!

Graham steered us back up to Town Quay at the end of the weekend where we dropped the Dodds off having been treated to a fish & chip lunch!

Weymouth – where Mike fixed lots of things! Lovely!

Couple of changes of plan landed us up in Brixham, pissing down, freezing cold and “blowing old boots”! I spent most of the time below trying to keep warm! Nice sail to Salcombe and up the river. How pretty and green – must have been all that rain! Stayed for days as a Force 8-9 blew up!

We spent 2 nights in Falmouth harbour and had 2 visitors. Tim Joyce came by for coffee and took me to Asda (Bless him!) and Tizzy came aboard for supper on the 2nd night. How lovely to see him again after 12 years! Final cream tea ashore before moving out to anchor. The wind has gone and the fog and rain have replaced it! Looking less and less likely that we will make Lisbon in time for me to fly back for Louise’s wedding.

Guess what? 3 days later, we’re still here, various changes of plan, but still  in Falmouth!

Over the Bank Holiday weekend we heard that Mike B had a heart attack (but is recovering well), Jude’s mum died- so Jude and Garry are on their way over from Oz- and I finally made it to Louise’s wedding by train from Falmouth! Only sunny day in weeks – lucky girl!

After loads of plan changes, we have decided to go back to Kent! Missing out on the med this summer unfortunately but taking our time going down the Atlantic coast after H & Will’s wedding. We are meant to be somewhere between Lisbon and Malaga now! Mike spent yet another day -this time in Dartmouth befriending the poo tank!

Mike continues to try and build a relationship with the poo tank in Guernsey while I scour the charity shops (very posh in Guernsey!)  for something pink to wear to Hannah’s hen night – some success!
