We arrived here on Saturday at the Radio Station in Prins Christian Sund.

Note the cruise ship just coming through the sound.

Next morning there was a small lump of ice also parked in the dock.

We walked up 250 wooden steps to the huts and were met by a small meal.

We had arrived at Danish hospitality and were provided with rooms for the night with hot showers and clothes washing.

The station is supplied by helicopter.  The ropeway in the background is a hoist for lifting items that come in by sea.  There is no road or track even up from the dock to the huts.

We were shown around the extensive hutted station, which used to have 16 staff and now has four plus a wife.
It has aerials and helicopter pads on the hills, with a wire suspension bridge across the ravine to the aerials where this photo was taken.  It had all been set up as an American wartime base.

Dinner was more gastronomic delight with all manner of fish and meat and accompanying delicacies by a chef used to cooking at sea. The aircraft radio links apparently finance all this comfortably.

We ended up staying a full day, so breakfast and lunch continued in the same way, but then back out to the tough life at sea.
