We ran down the channel between Vestanna and Eysturoy this morning.  The narrows at the centre are where the 12 knot tides occur.  We went through before the tide turned, it was still running at 4 knots but we were sailing on a dead run at 6 knots with two genoas up, one each side.  The main was not up, to avoid gybing.  We crept through the bridge at the centre of the narrows hoping that the wind did not drop and the current did not increase.

The instructions are only to go through at slack water with local knowledge.  A fisherman here confirmed that in a small boat he would go through any time his engine would push him through.

This is the harbour at Eide with us parked among little fishing boats on the left.  As usual in the Faroes moorings are free but the shower at the campsite here is a long walk and cold.
