I went ashore early this morning at Kollefjord and failed to find a post-box.

I came back into Eide to post the cards and asked directions of a man in a car.  He gave me a lift up to the post office and then invited me for coffee.  He had been fishing this morning at the bridge when I came through, motoring flat out into the wind  and just creeping over the sluicing tide.

Naturally more breakfast seemed a good idea, so I went back to his house and sampled dried whale meat (delicious) and blubber (strange texture but perfectly edible) as well as trying and being given dried cod.  He had caught and dried the whale himself and swapped some of it for the cod.  He says that when a whale is caught, everyone in the village is given some in the traditional way and none is wasted.

This is the cod:

I have got an up-to-date forecast that seems muddled but not too windy and greased the sheet winches as one was not ratchetting properly.  Any more excuses for sitting still.  No?  Off to Iceland again.
