A last view of America, this was the Portland waterfront.

I thought that would be the last picture but here are two boats with 'Coastguard' logos, one towing the other.  Is this an exercise or a problem?

I only saw  few boats after that.

This should have been posted yesterday, but it was not a good day.  When it blows a gale on my second day at sea I get sick and resort to bed.  There were a few vessels showing occasionally on the AIS, mostly 20 miles away, but one lighter and tug came past 4 miles astern.

It had been quiet the first night and with the heating on felt civilised, but the wind was veering about ahead and I had to tack in the rain several times in the early hours.  At midday the wind got up and I was soon down to 3 reefs and no jib.  35 knots was the most I saw on the anenometer, force 8 and we bounced and had solid waves on deck, but I stayed in tabin and slept.

The wind dropped to a 3 overnight but is back up force 5 now.  It is still raining.  If I was short of water I would be filling cans but having had cereal, fruit, or bread rolls for all meals so far there is plenty of everything.
