The plan to run right through to the Cape Cod Canal was abandoned when I downloaded the next weather forecast.  It said north winds for today.  Once through the canal it is open to the north and today would have been a strenuous beat straight up into the wind.  The idea of an island called Cuttyhunk that was one of the unsuccessful settlements before the Pilgrim Fathers was more attractive.

Here it is, full of chalets and golf buggies.  Not a historic beach in site.

It does have a lovely bay, with complete shelter.  Why is it now completely full of piled berths and moorings for visiting yachts?  More than 60 among the piles and more out on the swinging moorings.

At the end of October I was the only yacht.  At least they did not charge, as their season was over.
