WEB DIARY FRIDAY 21st SEPTEMBER
2007.
SAMI POSITION 38:15.18N 20:38.85E
After stocking up with bread and attempting to send
the web diary pages (all overdue) from Frikes via Dial-Up (which didn't work!)
we left our raft position and headed out into the dead calm waters around
Ithaca, towards Sami on Kefalonia. We anchored in a beautiful
secluded cove at Akra Plakes for lunch and a spot of snorkelling with thousands
of multicoloured fish, sharing our position with only one other yacht, and a
million flies that obviously wanted to share our lunch ! We spent a
very memorable few hours, swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear Ionian
waters amongst the fish, joined by a few more yachts that had seen our idyllic
mooring. The Captain decided to try his hand at blowing up (inflating) one
of our fenders which had definitely lost most of its air, but realised that he
hadn't packed the correct pump..... you can see his results below !
Late afternoon, Lucie motored us away from our
mooring and we headed towards the picturesque town of Sami, where we decided to
stay the night. After a text-book style stern-to mooring in the
harbour, joining half a dozen boats and a minesweeper, we had an early evening
drink and dined at a very dodgy restaurant overlooking the harbour.
