ASTIPALAIA POSITION 36:34.46N 26:23.14E
A day to remember ! Left Tilos early, heading straight into the wind again, so, motor
on and head towards Astipalaia. An hour out of Tilos, the
instruments went off line and we had a 70 degree variation between the compass
in the cockpit and the autohelm - so we had to recalibrate the
instruments. Then the mainsail stuck in the mast so we couldn't use it,
and the engine started playing up - so we sailed, tacked &
tacked..
  Dropped anchor in Analipsis finally at
19.30hrs. Relief !
THURSDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2007
A day of maintenance & repairs, unjammed the
mainsail and re-attached it to the furling hook (!), sealed around the
chainplates to stop more leaks (beginning to wonder whether we're on a boat or a
tea strainer..), M sewed up the torn bimini and Heff did a very snazzy splice of
anchor warp (rope) to the anchor chain! Sailed around the headland
to Skala, refuelled, then treated ourselves to dinner in a harbourside
restaurant.
