So, the final part of our Odyssey begins, after spending a very pleasant
day and night in Isla Graciosa, just off the north coast of Lanzarote, we
set off south towards our journeys end at Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
Following a very stark, dark and barren volcanic coastline southwards, we
had to put in a stop at Rubicon Marina, a very posh 5 star outfit on the
south coast of Lanzarote, to refuel and fill our water tanks, for the
final journey. As the sun was approaching the yardarm, we decided to
have a quick beer before our final night sail, and left the dock at
twilight - which was a good job, as M took us out of the Marina, and
decided to take one of the pontoon lighting bollards with her, much to the
amusement of the man sitting in the Coastguard boat right in front of us -
we all saw the funny side of it fortunately, but the moral of the story is
..... don't drive, after a bacardi and coke (well, it was a strong one !)
Boat was unmarked - as it was a fender that caused the damage...
Uneventful night passage towards LP, arriving early afternoon and given a
berth as we requested, close to our friends Ken & Kay Acott's yacht
"Coyote", on pontoon 15.
We have covered 3030 miles in a little over two and a half months, and
brought Lady Liv safely to the start point of her trans-Atlantic journey.
Our crew left us on the 13th to resume their working lives in chilly
Britain, and we began our mini-refit and preparations for the ARC.
