08.40 - We are finally leaving Port Gocek,
and are on our way !! A quick stop for fuel (see pic) and then
non-stop to Rhodes - originally we were going to Simi, to clear into Greece
(quicker than Rhodes), but, headed by the wind all the way, we motorsailed the
entire route.
  Arrived 19.15 at Rhodes Mandraki harbour, but
no room ! Circled a few times, tried to communicate with a Greek
chap on a motorcycle who felt he had complete control of the harbour, waved his
arms a few times and shouted a lot, we made pretty patterns on the chartplotter
with our circles. Joined the ferries,a Greek Navy gunboat and a
couple of other yachts in the huge commercial harbour, very windy and disturbed
night. Had trouble finding a good holding for the anchor, and M nearly ran
us aground as she sailed into 0.5M depth of water !! Cooked &
dined aboard, didn't sleep well, worried about the anchor holding !
