The beady-eyed Montenegro police intercepted us as we were about to cross into Croatian waters and took us into Kotor to pay a modest fine for the previous night’s unauthorized anchoring. It seems like they have people watching all the places anyone might think about resting up. It used up a few hours while we followed the police boat through the fjords of Kotor and an hour or two more to clean up the rubber streaks on the hull from the police station pier. It was a cheaper option anyway than doing the full clearance process. It’s only a small country and we will skip it altogether next time we are passing.
We arrived in Dubrovnik by early evening and cleared into Croatia in the normal, officious, and time-consuming way and parked up in Marina Frapa. The marina is very new, and we have been watching its construction this year during the several times we visited on AIDAblu Adriatic cruises.
