Last weekend I was in Berlin then some time in Betzdorf supervising the
fitting of a kitchen then we were off on another weekend's exploration
looking at Christmas markets, Christkindlmarkt, Weihnachtsmarkt, whatever.
Gluehwein; wurst; the whole nine yards.
First stop was the medieval walled town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber where we
bought some Christmas decorations and then went on the entertaining Night
Watchman walk around the dark but plague-free streets.
On Saturday we went on to Nuremberg which was much bigger but way too
crowded. Then over the border into the Czech Republic and Prague. (Yes, it's
yet another country in an already busy year. There will be another two
countries bagged before the year is out, watch this space). Prague was nice
but a bit drizzly. We stayed in the Hoffmeister Hotel. The restaurant was
excellent.
On Sunday morning we walked the Charles Bridge and went to the Old Town
Square for another Christmas Fair. On the drive back we stopped for a few
beers in Pilsen and a tour around the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. As one does.
