SUMMER OF GRAPTOLITE
(lyrics: Heike & Martyn, tune: Bryan Adams, Summer of '69. Sorry Bryan)

I got my first real sail boat
swapped it for the house and wife
sailed it til my fingers bled
was the summer of Graptolite

me and my sailing boat
had a dream and we tried real hard
round the world, nothing else could worry
just to know that we'll get that far
oh!, When I look back now
this summer seemed to last forever
and if I had the choice
yea, I just want to be there
those were the best days of my life

ain't no use in complaining
when you got a job to do
spending nights on the ocean
just to see stars and moon
standing on the cockpit floor
could never feel so much better
and when I looked ahead
I knew that it was now or never
those were the best days of my life

oh yea! back in the summer of Graptolite
man, we were killing time
we were young and restless, we needed to unwind
I guess nothing could last forever
forever

and now the times are changing
look at everything that's come and gone
sometimes I sail that old sail boat
think about you and what went wrong
standing on the cockpit floor
could never feel much better
And when I looked ahead
I knew that it was now or never
those were the best days of my life

oh yea! back in the summer of Graptolite
It was the summer of Graptolite
oh yea! me and my baby Graptolite

oh! it was the summer
the summer of Graptolite
