Greetings All,

Since we parked our caravan against the wall in the tiny harbour of Karavos some 10 days ago, the "Meltemi" (hot summer wind from the NE - google it!) has been blowing its bits off.  We are now fed up with it since a minimum of 25kts of wind for 16 hours a day is really quite wearing.  Anyway, we chose a great spot to be "gale bound".  Notwithstanding that the inmates have taken over the asylum here! its mad! we have really enjoyed the break in rural Greece and being the only English people in the area.  The first pic is of us old folk just before going out for the night.  Local fare plus 1 ltr wine cost 15 Euros so not bad.

We have done quite a bit of walking (me also running & cycling) and have seen some great things on our travels.  The "wind vane" if that is what it is was wonderful and I want one - a winter project?  The picture of me with rucksac does not show that had it not been full of rocks I would have blown off the road.

This whole area is very rural and the fruit and veg market in the nearby town was fantastic.  Gilly would have purchased more fruit than we could carry and all for about 3 euros.  Although our "holding tank" - don't ask - is now pretty full we have had no worries about water (see pic of hole in quay just behind Gilly B) and 240 volts power (see pic of our little Honda generator).  So we can charge things, run the fridge/freezer and shower on a regular basis - I have no wish to smell like a Greek even if I now look like one. (I probably can't say that can I?)

Tomorrow - Monday the 29th, we are off south towards Athens.  Hopefully, the Meltemi will blow out on Tuesday after we have made use of it to go to our next port of call at a place called Rafti.  30kts of wind behind us and we will fly.

Bye for Now
