We seem to have become stuck here. The island has this ability to remove all desire to move on. It is only the size of a few tennis courts but the charm of the people is infectious and the three of us keep saying we will move on tomorrow but that just doesnt come. It has been a great rest for me as the sailing had made me more tired than I realised and it has taken a few nights of great sleep to feel revitalised.
If we get our act together we will leave for Suva tomorrow (promises, promises) where we hope to be able to get some mystery electrical glitch fixed and get the wheel repaired. Two of the spokes have came adrift and it may be inconvenient if this broke at sea so some early repairs would be wise. After Lucy and Jack leave I have almost decided to head straight for Bundaberg to make landfall in Australia. it should take around ten days for the passage to Oz which will signify the end of this, for me, epic journey. I am slightly concerned about this as there is always a let down at the end of a trip like this and the reality of returning to making a living again will of course be on my mind. Still that is a month away from now so I'll put that to one side and just focus on the days at hand. Apparently the Suva yacht club is a bit of a social centre and I'm looking forward to that although Suva itself is just a big city where people don't say Bula. Even so it would be good to find a restaurant with a big juicy steak. A protein hit is on our minds.
Jack and young Lele, a local boy, very kindly cleaned the bottom of the boat yesterday and there are only a couple of bits to touch up now so a fast passage should be in order.
